Year 8 Wildwood Trip 2026

What is & Where is Wildwood?

Wildwood is a British Wildlife Park and a conservationist charity.

It lies between Canterbury and Herne Bay, off of the A291. As a Wildlife Park, it houses many animals and helps to educate people about the animals they house.

What Did We Do At WildWood?

At Wildwood, we did a CSI investigation, a tour, and got to both play and buy from the gift shop.

What was the CSI Investigation?

CSI means: Crime Scene Investigation. In the CSI investigation, we used a series of clues to discover which animal killed Mr Bunny. The clues ranged from investigating the scene of the crime, checking blood samples, and figuring out when Mr Bunny was killed.

At the end, we compared ideas and finally decided who killed Mr Bunny. Overall, it was rather fun, while still being scientific.

What Happened During the Tour?

On the tour, we went around the Wildlife park, looking at the groups of animals they took care of.  Wildwood has lots of animals: Bison, Goats, Bears, Ravens, Wild Boar, Arctic Fox, Red Squirrels, Wallabies (including an Albino), Konik Ponies, and many more we either didn’t pass or didn’t look at.

What Did they Have at the Gift Shop?

The gift shop had: snacks, toys, marbles, plush toys, gems, fidget toys, and much more.

Why Should You Go?

You should go because it allows you to both have fun and learn a lot about science, especially to do with animals.

Fun Facts

The Red Squirrel is Britain’s native squirrel, but due to disease and competition, it is now an endangered species.

Ravens mate for life and are scavengers who will often eat carrion.

Wild boars change colours as they age from childhood to adulthood.

For bears: Browns lay down, Black fight back, White good night.

Bison used to be native to the UK after crossing over via an ice-sheet.
