Christmas update from the Music Department

We have had a wonderful December in the music department.
The end of the Autumn term always sees the culmination of our student ensembles from across the musical spectrum at the Winter Concert. From choirs to jazz, flutes and saxes to rock bands and orchestras, our ensembles performed a wide variety of repertoire for parents, friends and family.

Our Chamber Choir were invited to perform at the annual Demelza Carol Concert at St Peter and St Paul Chapel, Greenwich on Tuesday 9 December. Our Chamber Choir led the congregation in the carols as well as performing two pieces, ‘Follow That Star’ and ‘There is Faint Music’, wowing the audience and fellow performers. We were delighted to help with Demelza’s efforts, and they raised nearly £10,000 for the event.

We rounded off our winter season with Carols by Candlelight at St John’s Welling. Our Symphony Orchestra accompanied the Choirs and congregation for our carols, and there were performances by our smaller ensembles as well as the Junior, Senior and Chamber Choirs. We also had some of our student groups again, with Ella Tyler’s String Quartet and Rory and Kelsi’s A Capella Group also featuring.
We are so proud of our performers in the music department, we wish you a very merry Christmas and see you in 2026!
Our next showcase of all ensembles is Tuesday 17 March 2026, 6-8:30pm.
Mrs Goddard, Head of Music
