Shrek 2026: Another AMAZING BGS Production!

This year, over 700 of you came to watch our music production, Shrek, featuring over 120 students across four shows.
That’s not even counting the 180 students from Danson Lane who also got a chance to watch our dress rehearsal on Tuesday afternoon either!
The cast and crew of Shrek 2026 again raised the bar for productions, flexing their comedy muscles as well as nailing down an accent or two and grappling with some props and wigs (let’s not forget the fart machine!). Our outstanding team of teachers, led by Mrs Casling and Mrs Eacott, made sure the musical was a resounding success and entertained us by the bucket load.
For some of our Year 13s and 11s, this was their last musical, but they have each been part of the rich tradition of school musicals here at BGS and have shown the new generation of students coming through what the standards are and how much it means to be part of our extraordinary group of students that every year deliver their best. Who knows what next year’s musical will be, but I’m sure it will continue to showcase our students at their very best.
Mrs Goddard, Head of Music

Shrek was my fifth BGS musical, and it was an incredible experience, especially as I had the opportunity to play the role of Fiona. From the costumes and lighting to the set design and the dedication of the cast and band, every aspect of the production reflected the hard work and talent of everyone involved. I am so grateful to have been part of such a memorable production, and I am excited to see what it is next year!!
Caitlyn, Year 12

I very much enjoyed taking part in the musical this year, and the experience was one I will never forget. Each rehearsal was engaging and fun, and the teachers leading the rehearsal made sure everyone knew what they were doing to prepare the cast as much as absolutely possible for the show nights. In the end, all the hard work put in paid off, as the finished result was incredible!
