The contribution of nations within the British Empire was immense, and it is now generally accepted that without it, Britain would have found the conflict more difficult.
For the past three weeks, the Senior Science Society has been running every Friday lunchtime, supported by our former Year 13 President and Vice President.
Last Friday, our Year 12 community gathered for a sunny afternoon of food, music, and excitement, blessed with clear skies and warm sunshine.
During the summer holidays, as part of the Sutton Trust UK-US Fulbright programme, I was given the amazing opportunity to partake in a week-long residential in the US in Boston, where I stayed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Despite being in Year 12 at the time, this was my first music tour with the school, and it was an amazing thing to be a part of.

On Thursday 10th July, six intrepid debating teams, representing all years of the school, made their way to South Hampstead School in North London to take part in the UK’s largest state school debating competition, Debate Hub.
This has been another year full of competitions - Sport, Music, Drama, Cookery, Chess to mention just a few.
On 24th June, 7 brave debate year 12 teams from BGS welcomed teams from Beths Grammar School, Dartford Grammar School and Eltham College to discuss the motion: University is still worth it! As if taking part in a debate with students from other schools, the participants were debating in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Chinese or Japanese.
On the 9th July, 21 Year 12 Maths and Economics students attended a lecture on the ‘Art of Uncertainty’ with British statistician, Sir David Spiegelhalter at Dartford Grammar School For Boys.
